Breeding FAQ
Breeding Your Chihuahua
Why breeding is not a way to make money and in fact, usually costs money
After years of breeding, I feel obligated to say, THINK HARD BEFORE BREEDING. A good breeder will NEVER get rich doing this the right way. There are a lot of expenses to consider even before your puppies are born and you need to have the money IN ADVANCE to cover those expenses. Also, there is fair chance of a c-section or that your mom might not care for the pups after they are born. Can you afford that? Can you be there to bottle feed puppies for weeks every couple hours? It is just something to think about. Puppies, especially Chihuahua puppies, are expensive to raise and not only is there the food and medical costs, but keep in mind, you have to be DILLIGENT on making sure their sugar level stays okay and take a LOT of time to socialize them. You should not end up with timid pups, but outgoing boisterous puppies. Ask people that have bought dogs from me (Please refer to our References page), my pups are structurally excellent and well rounded pups. This does not come easy or cheap.
I am ALWAYS willing to help other breeders, talk chihuahua, or help out someone who is either getting into breeding or had an "oops" litter. So if you don't know what you are doing with 100% certainty....ask! I am here to help, but unless you are interested in a labor of love, don't breed.

In the near future, I intend to have a Chihuahua step by step whelping page on this site in addition to a page about your Chihuahuas litter and how to properly prepare for your Chihuahua's future litter. Until this page is up, please do not hesitate to ask me about supplies you may need, easy ways to make your Mom comfortable, temperature drops, etc. We are always here to help as the best way to give your Mom and your babies the best start is to be a properly informed and well prepared breeder!
